Gardening shouldn't be the daunting task of getting
up before sunrise over the weekend just to mow the lawn or dig up
some old shrubs that have become a sight for sore eyes. Gardening
should be seen as any other hobby that one would do because of the
love for the specific activity.
Gardening should be seen as the ideal pass time for
those who want to sit back and enjoy the results of a lavish garden
after the hard, but satisfactory work has been done. Think of it
this way - nothing in life just falls in your lap, you have to put
some effort into it, to achieve the wanted results!
A
successful gardener should:
-Have a love for gardening and above all have the determination to
firstly begin a gardening task and also the will to fulfil it.
-Be physically fit and very agile. A lazy gardener
will not achieve what we have mentioned in the first point.
-Always exchange ideas and information with
like-minded people and be willing to learn from these people, especially if they
have been doing gardening for a longer period than you have.
-Make use of as much reading material as possible to
gain more knowledge about gardening.
-There are some gardening tools that you just can
not go without and you need to be prepared to spend some money in
the initial stages of your gardening "career".

There are so many possibilities when it comes to
gardening that it would be very difficult to become bored. You can
either choose from indoor gardening, outdoor
gardening, landscaping, cultivating exotic herbs or growing bonsai trees. Before
starting of with your hobby, do yourself a favour and research as
much as possible in order to master the art of gardening and its
different varieties. Gardening doesn't just consist
of planting seeds and growing plants. You need to decide where the plants should
grow and how far apart they have to be planted as well as which plants go with
each other. Always arrange the
plants and different flowers in accordance with their heights,
textures and colours to ensure that that they complement each other.

As a serious gardener it is
advisable to keep aside one day (preferably over the weekend) to be your gardening
day. Make sure that you have all the essential gardening tools and
accessories that you might need.
Make a habit of cleaning your gardening tools and
storing them in their place after you are done. Because you have
spent a lot of money on these tools, be sure to maintain them
properly, seeing that you can't afford to buy gardening tools every
other month!
