Vegetable Gardening

Vegetable gardening involves far more than throwing a couple of seeds in the ground and waiting for a tomato or carrot to appear. We will be covering the basics of vegetable gardening, but you might want to get yourself an appropriate gardening book.

You will have to start of by planning your vegetable garden just like any other garden or flowerbed and this is quite simple. All you need to do is some homework and you will find that you shouldn't use soil for indoor vegetable gardening.

Keep your home full of fresh vegetable daily by following the available catalogues. The most important part is preparing your garden soil for planting vegetables. Take special care in doing this to ensure that your garden is perfect for planting vegetables.

You will find that the patios and balconies of  apartment buildings, flats and condo's often have good exposure for container vegetable gardening. Container gardening ensures that you position the vegetables in areas where they can receive the best possible growing conditions.

Remember that vegetable production will be limited by the number as well as the size of the containers. Soil less mixes such as a peat-lite mix are generally too light for container vegetable gardening, since they usually will not support plant roots sufficiently and is therefore not recommended. A fairly lightweight potting mix (fertilizer) is needed for successful container vegetable gardening.
